Brixx Wood Fired Pizza

The weather nice and wanting to get some pizza? Then checkout Brixx. They offer a wide variety of pizza and pasta. I love going to the Brixx when the weather is nice and sitting on the outside porch. This Brixx location is located in the beautiful Dilworth neighborhood which offers a great backdrop. However, when a loud car or motorcycle goes by it is not the best surrounding.

My favorite item has to be the pizza. I really enjoy the Barbecue Chicken pizza, but some times I like to mix it up and try one of their other 22 pizzas. So far I have not had one pizza that I did not like.

They also offer an awesome spinach and artichoke dip if you're in the mood to splurge on an appetizer. The dip is big enough to split between 4 people. If you split with everyone to pay, it ends up being an extra $1.75 for each person.

Kabob Grill

Kabob's is the place to go for a low key, not overly crowded setting. The restaurant is located on East Blvd. in the Harris Teeter shopping center. It is a small place, but the food is worth it, especially if you are tired of the typical burgers and fries joint. Kabob's is a short drive from Queens.

Kabob's offers a wide range of salads, pita wraps, lunch specials, appetizers and of course, kabobs.

Kabob Grill offers Mediterranean cuisine. My favorite item off the menu is the chicken shawerma wrap. This menu item is basically a pita wrap with chicken, onion, tomato, pickles, and a garlic sauce.
The chicken shawerma is $7.50 before tax.

Kabob's Grill is open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. Their hours are 11am -9:30pm.

Breakfast All Day at the Flying Biscuit!

This is not your normal pancake and waffle restaurant.
The Flying Biscuit Cafe is a brightly colored restaurant that offers some of the largest biscuits I have ever seen and ate. The grits are creamy and like nothing I have ever tasted before, I highly recommend trying them. I like rounding my meal off with some bacon (extra crispy) and scrambled eggs.

After eating this meal, I am stuffed. This meal only cost me $9.73. I only got water but I really do not like much to drink with my breakfast.

The menu is filled with traditional breakfast items and non-traditional items like oatmeal pancakes or orange scented french toast. To view their full menu click HERE.

The Flying Biscuit is down the road from Queens off of Woodlawn and Park in the Park Road Shopping Center.

WARNING: If you are looking to be seated quickly, you may not want to go here on the weekend. The place is slammed all morning. I went around 12:30 on a Sunday and waited 30 minutes to be seated.

McAlister's Deli

When I am in the mood for a good soup and sandwich meal, I go to McAlister's. They give you decent portions for a decent price. I typically get the turkey melt with a side of broccoli and cheddar soup. The soup is extra cheesy and the sandwich is nicely toasted. The sweet tea is the best part because it is made just like my mom's homemade tea.

Most of the time you can make it out of McAlister's under $10 unless you chose to get an appetizer. Although if you are able to spurge on the appetizer (or spilt with a friend) I recommend the nacho basket. The basket comes loaded with chips and a salsa queso dip that is heavenly.

The McAlister's is about 10 minutes from Queens off of Park Road.

Moe's Monday!

One of my favorite Monday meals is at Moe's Southwest grill. I walk in on Monday afternoon and am greeted with loud "Welcome to Moe's!" This greeting gets annoying when you are dinning in, but when you are on the go, it is really welcoming.  Many of the staff seems happy to serve you, but when they get busy they can be a kind of short.

Moe's Monday is a special that offers burritos for $5.59. If you don't go on Monday, you can still get out of Moe's under $10.

I enjoy the chicken burrito, but they have many other options. The Moe's closest to Queens can be easily overlooked by all the other restaurants and botiques on the busy East Blvd. However, it would be a mistake to miss out on this place.

Moe's offers:
-Burritos
-Tacos
-Quesadilla
-Nachos
-Salads
-Stacks
-Burrito Bowls
Click HERE to checkout their full menu.

The great thing about Moe's is you are able to customize every order! I love my burrito filled with rice, lettuce, corn salsa, sour cream, jalapenos, cheese, and other things that I am sure I am forgetting.

Something different that Moe's offers is their drink machine. You can customize your drink. It offers coke products, but you can get basically any drink you want. I like vanilla coke.

Which Wich for Sandwiches

I feel like today there are many different places to get a sandwich (or sub) that it can be difficult to make a decision. One of the main reasons I like Which Wich is the customer is able to customize their order and can do it quickly.

For example, you walk in the door (sometimes you're greeted) and pick your sandwich bag.  On the bag you check off the type of bread you want, condiment, cheese, and more. Once your wich is the way you want, walk up to the counter, order, and pay. It is literally that simple. But beware, if you go during lunch hour (typically around 12), there will be a long line to order.

My favorite wich is the Turkeywich (pictured below), so I choose the #1 bag. Once I get my bag and a red marker, I start scribbling away and load up my which with with works. Their meats are not slimy like some sandwich shops.

Since I'm from the south I have a taste for cole slaw, and Which Wich has some good slaw, nice and sweet. They top off the wich with some 1000 Island dressing and I feel like I am eating in heaven and all for under $9. This price also includes chips and regular size fountain drink.

Click Here to see Which wich you would get.

The only problem I have had at Which is with the customer service. Sometimes you can tell the workers do not want to be there, but hey we all have our bad days.

Many of the store's hours are 10am-9pm. There are a total of three locations in Charlotte, but there are two within 10 minutes of Queens. On is off Woodlawn Road, and the other is off Metropolitan Avenue.
